GSF tables twelve month appraisal

After the financial trading year 2014-2015 ended, the Global Shippers’ Forum (GSF) presented the results of its activities. With regards to the guidelines for the safe securing and stowage of cargo transport, GSF played a role in bringing about an agreement between the IMO/ILO/UNECE to introduce a new code of practice.

In addition, the IMO agreed to new rules for the verification of the gross mass weights of goods and containers. Robert Ballantyne, GSF chairman and president, also pointed at the jointly launched Bimco/GSF Servicecon contract that provides small and medium-sized shippers with the ability to enter into volume service contracts on fair and equitable terms.

Furthermore, best practice guides were published including "Working with Containers", "The Value of Air Cargo to the Global Economy" and "Maritime Emissions Policy Briefing". GSF welcomed shippers’ councils from Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and South Africa as new members.
